Beach Weekend- May 9-11

What better way to spend Mother's day, but with your mom and favorite grand-daughter at the Beach! I can't think of anything more relaxing and enjoyable. We had a great time!

We arrived just in time for lunch on Friday and then we hit the beach to play in the waves, sand and search for seashells and shark's teeth on Manasota Beach in Venice, Florida gulf shores.

After a few hours of combing the beach for the largest shark's tooth and the most perfect shell, we headed home for showers and some time to sit and relax and talk. Later that evening after another great meal prepared by my mom we went for a drive to the North Jetty on our quest for the perfect sunset picture and dolphins playing in the water. We captured both of these and much more as we watched the sun go down, and the dolphins searching for food and the gulls diving for fish as well. Elani had a great time climbing on the "boulders" at the water's edge and feeling the salt spray on her face. It had been a long day and when we got back to the house, she was ready for a good night's rest.

Saturday everyone was up bright and early and we were at the beach again by 9:30 a.m. with plenty of sunscreen, still searching for that perfect shell and as many shark's teeth as we could find in the sand and surf. Elani had a great time and just could not get enough of the wave-jumping with her Paway (her name for Rudy) and I. It was lunch time and the tummies were letting us know it, so we headed back to the house for a sandwich and a shower to remove the sand that collected on our bodies over the course of the morning. After lunch, everyone was tuckered out and we all laid down to rest for an hour or so and try to recoup from the morning's activities.

Sunday after a light breakfast we did a little shopping at the Dome (my mom's favorite place) and then to Sharky's on the Pier for Mother's Day lunch. The whole weekend was very relaxing and a great time. It's great spending time with those you love!
